A poignant song about memories, and the way thinking or talking about one thing might lead to remembering another from decades before or after. That weird line about “crosswords through the bathroom door” makes a lot more sense when you realise it’s actually “cross words.”
This is originally from Elbow's first album, Asleep In The Back. Not the best version here, but at least there’s something to look at. The song’s called Scattered Black And Whites, as in b&w photos; not “Black And Blue” as it says on the Irish tv caption.
